Must be a student from Myanmar
Enrolled in an accredited institution in Asia
In need of financial support to complete your education
Our Selection Process:
Prescreening: Selection committee members evaluate applicants’ submissions based on our selection criteria. Applicants who receive a score of 60 or higher out of 100 will be invited to a virtual interview on Zoom.
Interview: In this second round, committee members will interview selected candidates and assign additional scores of up to 100 points based on their interview performance.
Awarding Scholarships: Scholarships will be awarded to the ten highest-scoring applicants across both rounds.

Financial Need: We prioritize applicants who face financial challenges that could limit their ability to pursue education without additional support. If financial barriers impact your studies, please share the details in your application.
Academic Achievement: We seek students who have shown dedication to their studies and excelled academically. If you have notable grades, achievements, or recognition in your field of study, please highlight these.
Resilience and Adaptability: We value candidates who demonstrate resilience and adaptability in challenging situations. This may include experiences where you’ve had to persevere through obstacles or adjust to significant changes.
Community Involvement: We are looking for individuals who make a positive impact on their communities, whether through volunteer work, mentorship, or any activity that benefits others. Please describe your involvement and its impact on those around you.
Leadership Potential: We seek applicants who demonstrate leadership skills in formal or informal settings, whether by leading a project, organizing an event, or inspiring others. We encourage you to share specific examples.
Passion for Learning: We support those genuinely curious and committed to growth. If you have pursued knowledge beyond formal education, please share how your passion for learning drives you.

Scholarship Award and Payment Structure
As part of your scholarship, we provide two payments of $600 each:
The first payment will be made in April.
The second payment will be made in August.
We will work with you to determine your preferred payment method (e.g., bank transfer, PayPal) and finalize the details before making the first payment.
Important Notes:
This scholarship is a one-time award and is not automatically renewable. If eligible, applicants may reapply in future years.
Both payments are contingent on your continued enrollment in your educational program. We may require confirmation of your enrollment before each payment is processed.
Scholarship payments may be subject to tax reporting requirements. We advise recipients to consult a tax professional in their country of residence.

Protecting Applicant Privacy
At Suu Myat Than Foundation, we are dedicated to protecting our scholarship applicants' privacy and personal information. To maintain confidentiality and integrity in the selection process, we have implemented the following measures:
Confidentiality Statements:Each selection committee member signs a confidentiality statement, committing to handling applicant information strictly and using it solely for scholarship selection purposes. Members can only access information necessary for the selection process and may not discuss applicant details outside the selection committee.
Data Storage: Applicant data is securely stored on a private, access-controlled platform, with access limited to authorized personnel only.
Application Retention Policy: For transparency and accountability, we retain applicant data for three years following the selection process. Applications are securely archived during this time for potential audit, reference, or reapplication purposes. After three years, all applicant data is permanently deleted to protect privacy.
Guidance on Sensitive Data: To ensure your privacy, please avoid providing sensitive information that could affect your security, such as government ID numbers, bank account details, or other personal data not directly relevant to the scholarship selection process.

Q:How can I track the status of my application?
A: After submitting your application, you will receive an acknowledgment email. All applicants will be notified by email once the selection process concludes in January. Q: What should I do if I miss the interview or experience technical issues?
A: If you are unable to attend the interview or face any technical difficulties, please contact us immediately. We will make every effort to reschedule your interview within the available timeframe. Q: Can I reapply if I don’t receive the scholarship this year?
A: Yes, applicants who are eligible may reapply in future years. Q: When will I be notified if I am not selected?
A: All applicants will be notified of their status by email by the end of January. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide detailed feedback on individual applications. Q: Will I be given precedence over other applicants if I win an award this year?
A: No, receiving the scholarship this year does not guarantee any priority in future selection processes. Each year’s applicants are considered based on the same eligibility criteria and selection process. You are welcome to apply again in subsequent years if you remain eligible.
